Amazing people!
I spent Sunday evening near Saddle Lake with the Cree family of my host Tracey Collins. I can't remember the last time I was surrounded by such grace and hospitality. The importance of family was so blatantly obvious you could reach out and grab it. Tracey's father is a nationally renown fiddler and activist in the aboriginal community, her grandfather is renown for sacrificing his "treaty status" in order to build a school for his people (something he couldn't do under treaty status), her great, great, great grandfather was Big Bear, who was tricked into forfeiting his land to the settlers by a priest who told him in "trust" that the pending railroad would devaluate his land.
